Ibanez Jem77-PMC-BON

Original 1991 Ibanez Jem77-PMC that I acquired without a neck, but all of the rest of the original parts were there. A friend had given me a NOS PMC neck many years ago and the original finish was failing on the body…so given my lifetime affection for the Purple Multicolor Jem, I grabbed it and refinished it in a style that reminded me of what I love about the original ones and paired it up with a brand new/35yr old neck and made it whole again.

I know it’s controversial to refinish a guitar as rare as a PMC (only around 270 originally made)…and in some cases I can save the original finish with strategic use of CA glue, polyester fillers and hand painting. This was not one of those cases…and outside of the PMC refin that Mr. Vai now has in his collection, I will likely never get to do another – so honestly I am pretty stoked on it 🙂
